The idea for Out of the Mist was conceived while staying in a beach condo for a month to work on another novel, The Perfect Match. While there, she walked on the beach in a thick mist that turned out to be quite eerie, and saw a man turn and walk towards her. It frightened her back to her condo, giving her the idea for an alll-new novel.
